A CALL FOR PEACEFUL NEGOTIATIONS AND MEANINGFUL INCLUSIVE DIALOGUE TO END THE ONGOING CONFLICT AND TO ENABLE CHILDREN GO BACK TO SCHOOL
The nation of Cameroon for over seven years going to eight from the year 2016, has been experiencing an internal crisis which has led to the loss of many lives with some as refugees in neighbouring countries. As of 31st March 2023 more than 2.1 million people are on the move within Cameroon, including over one million internally displaced persons (IDPs), almost 646.000 returnees and over 480.000 refugees and asylum seekers, including about 349.000 refugees in the Central African Republic and 128.000 from Nigeria. All these have led to ineffective schooling and this has greatly affected the lives of many young people in many areas of the two English speaking regions of Cameroon. There have been massive killings especially the innocent ones with many as victims of war and stray bullets.
Our organization strongly condemns any act that violates the fundamental rights of human beings. We advocate for peaceful settlement of the ongoing crisis and we advocate for meaningful and all inclusive dialogue as parameters for lasting peace for the people of Cameroon.
